Hi MZIP
<<What I really need to know is where do they plan to make their money.... If it is on a Network product that people don't really need... I think thier long term stability is questionable>>
You're starting off this debate from two dubious positions
a) People don't need networks! Since when? Have a wee look about and you'll see one *whole* lot of networking going on. If you're referring to NetWare being an IPX based, closed network system, you need to read about NW5 - Pure IP, Standards based networking from the creators of LAN software and the father of Java. The rest of the internet is a pretty good market to chase.
b) Do you think that Novell are sitting still with the new CEO? With Schmidt behind the wheel, the product diversity and development efforts are outstanding - probably more so than MSFT. Remember, MSFT are in a leading position with regard to mindshare etc. There's only one way they can go - down. (Barney for Windows = Enterprise Server Provider???). NOVL is currently undervalued, big time. The more that they deliver, the more that they stick to standards , the higher their star will rise. At the value NOVL is sitting, can you see it going down. Really?

PS I'm a CNA, CNE, ECNE, MCNE and soon to be MCSE. The first four groups have *not* learned crap and don't buy it either - I resent your accusation. Doing the last qualification leads me to think I'm reading recycled,tree-wasting shit. MCSE = The 'Where's Waldo' of the computer industry. Big fonts, lot's of pictures, little content. At my age I'm glad it's so easy - too many beers burn out the brain cells and I've seen a few in my time!!!
