Lied about Santa? You mean he is not real?
Is that what one calls an Institutional Fib?

I feel cheated! All my life I have known where the story came from
and I never doubted it. It comes from the ancient jewish messianic
expectation for a herald who would announce the coming of the Messiah.
This jewish legend expected it to be the prophet Elijah with his
"Fiery" chariot returning from Heaven. You do remember that it was
reported in Scripture that he never died! Along the way some jewish
unfortunate convert to Christianity changed the names but not the story. Elijah=KRIS/Chariot=Sleigh/Messiah coming=Birth of Jesus/
Dionysus was born Dec 25=Christmas/

Jesus actually was born on 24th day of Pharmuthi=Jan 6th but since
Emperor Justinian wanted it on Dec 25th...Why argue for truth?

happy Channukah!
