Dan,

Think of it this way. People who are disposed to expect the worst are unlikely to get involved in investing. People who get involved in investing are by their nature part of that sub set of humanity who in fact tend to believe in the possible. So while many people do indeed tend to believe the worst, investors as a narrower group tend to be believers in the future. Therefore they are more easily manipulated in the direction of believing their natural instincts. Just my opinion.
