A celebration of the faux pas, beginning with the author's latest beaut. forbes.com It's not a phrase one hears much anymore, and more's the pity. "I made a faux pas" sounds much better than, "Boy, did I just step in it." The word gaffe gets a pretty good workout. The OED cites modern French-une gaffe, "a remark by which one 'puts one's foot into it'." This is a long but very funny piece your sides will hurt from laughing. Bill
