Greetings Dll, and all who love the Lord Jesus Christ. Thank you for your response to which I will respond. Dll I was not able to find time this afternoon to complete my work for tonight. If you do not mind can I answer your latest question now and carry on with our study tomorrow night. Thanks. 2 Sam7:10. I see you are having a difficult time in understanding this verse DLL, " Moreover I will appoint a place for My people Israel, and will plant them, that they may dwell in a place their own and move no more; nor shall the sons of wickedness oppress them anymore, as previously ". As I stated before, Israel had come through very difficult times in the " Judges " , now God promised to Israel that they would dwell in peace and safety in Jerusalem under King David. This place that God would appoint is Jerusalem under David's reign. There are two keys to understand this verse, I will discuss them in numerical order. 1. The word " move " in Hebrew is " ragaz " which translated means, " to be angry ", " to trouble ", " tremble ". Substitute these correct meanings of the word as used in this verse and you get a totally different meaning. It is not a physical move of national Israel, bur rather a moving of their hearts and souls. The English language is very difficult to convey the meaning of Hebrew and Greek words. A simiiar instance of this word " moved " used by the Lord Jesus Christ in the new Testament is when He was " moved " with compassion for the multitudes. It is not talking about a literal physical moving of his body ,rather a stirring within his inward parts , His spirit and soul. The same is true of " ragaz " as used in 2 Sam.7:10. Key # 2. The last two words in 2 Sam. 7:10 , " as previously", again this affirms that Israel would enjoy rest from their enemies under King David, something they had not tasted under the " Judges ". I will come back before we finish DLL, and touch on " how this foreshadows a future coming Kingdom ". The setting and time is not right. DLL, I want you to know that I love you as a brother in Christ, so please do not take offence of what I will now say. I understand only to well in what you believe when it comes to " Israel " from Calvary until today. However, your questions to me on 2 Sam 7:10, you seem to have a fixation totally on Israel and the land. I am concerned with that because it is very difficult to hear the gentle voice of the Spirit if we have our own pre-conceived ideas of what we think the Bible says. Again DLL, I have had to learn that the hard way. Let us push on my brother, looking always for the guidance and understanding of the Holy Spirit as we study His most Holy Word . I trust this answers your questions satisfactory. If you have anymore questions or comments please respond tonight, and I will attempt to answer them. Otherwise, we will continue tomorrow night, if that is ok by you. Grace and peace bt unto you and all the Brethren. Robert |
