Bruce, I lived for 12 years in TX, in Waco, College Station and
the Dallas area. If I had to choose a large Texas city to live
in it would be Austin. The university there counters the bubba
effect to a certain degree. That said and having also lived a few
years in la-la land, I can say based on experience that there
would be some culture shock involved.

Even though I was born an Okie, my biggest complaint and the
reason I moved to Puerto Vallarta a couple of years ago was that
I missed being near the ocean. With you background in Hawaii and
Guam you might find being so far inland a bit much.

The summers are indeed hot and the winters can be cold esp. as
compared to the valley. Another thing that disturbed me was
their recent decision that it is a good thing for everybody to
carry firearms. If you are a card carrying NRA kind of a guy
this may make perfect sense to you, but I'll be darned if I can
figure it out.

Que te vaya bien... Steve
