p.s. I find it hard to believe that I could burn out a section of the motherboard, the printer and terminal port area. Has anyone else seen this happen??? Please help???

Yes, I can happen as a result of lightning or a power serge.

When you get your new machine get a UPS power supply. This will eliminate these problem. This may not be your problem but I have seen it quite often. I have read power surges are responsible for 40 % of hardware failures.

Goog luck with your Dell

Best wishes

Donald
