When I visited Ron Graham of ICI / Devoe in Edmonton I saw photographs of the building you mention. The building in Red Deer originally held a major department store (either Sears or Eaton's, I believe), and was brick with paint. Ron told me that several strippers were tried but SV-35 was judged the most effective and also the safest.

Refinishing the historical building involved removing the paint with SV-35 (applied with spray gun). After the paint was removed a solution of Aquasol was applied to remove any contaminants from the surface. Finally the clean brick was clear coated to preserve its appearance. This was how Ron explained the whole process to me, and showed me photographs of the operation.

PS, I don't think that Glidden has SV-35 (Hydrostrip 500) products in stock yet. I do know however that ICI / Devoe in Edmonton (403-454-4900) sells the stuff. Or you could probably order it cheaper directly from Napier. I think that a 20L (5 US Gal.) pail is the smallest quantity you can actually order though.
