WSJ on upcoming CSCO ad campaign -- "Empowering the Internet Generation"
(via your friendly ASND thread. Have you ever noticed that Chambers never mentions ASND as a competitor and only mentions the defeated ones (BAY/COMS/CS)? Curious)

In the World of Technology

What, no dancing bunny suits? Cisco Systems Inc. may be one of the most highly valued companies on Wall Street, but the average person on Elm Street would be hard-pressed to say what it does. That may change soon, as the San Jose, Calif., maker of computer-networking gear prepares to launch an "Intel inside"-style ad campaign that includes its first TV commercials.

Cisco officials are mum about the effort, but the company has been showing the commercials to insiders for the last few weeks. The spots show a montage of various Internet users, and play off the fact that Cisco's routers, switches and other pieces of equipment are at the heart of the Internet. The tag line for the commercials: "Empowering the Internet Generation."

While the campaign won't be nearly as extensive as Intel's, the commercials should become familiar sights on the news and high-end sports programs favored by the upper-income viewers that the company is targeting.
