In the early 80's I think it was CBS who tried to do a new Twilight series. I think i saw 5 or 6 episode before it was gone. Only one did I like.
An alien race arrived at earth and positioned large ships above our major cities (much like Independence Day) They contacted the powers of the world at the U.N. They said that they were the ones who had colonized the planet with humans and were very disappointed with our petty wars, our genocide, and our pitiful weapons. They said they had decided to destroy the entire population.
The U.N. reps pleaded for just 2 days to try and get things right. The aliens responded that they didn't see what good it would do, but that they were curious as to what could be done, so they granted 2 days.
After 2 days, the aliens came back to the U.N. The proud members of the U.N. said that they had done it. The presented a 10000 page document that detailed world peace, the destruction of nuclear weapons, and human rights for all people, with this document, the world was finally at peace.
The aliens laughed at them. They said they had put humans on earth as one of many different potential military colonies. The aliens colonized a number of planets and let them evolve hoping each would produce and discover more powerful forms of weapons. Earth was dead last in the weapons department. The destruction of earth began, with the shocked faces of the U.N. members looking on...
