Only half of Stratus revenue is from telecommunications.
Further, the telecommications business Stratus in is more
in high level application and services carriers deploy, while
Ascend is mainly in moving bits. If Ascend needs this technology,
why can they OEM from or partner with Stratus, or just buy
the part of the business it really needs? Stratus claims
(on their web) they rely on partnering and alliances, including
with switch makers.

It doesn't make sense to me.
