Hi Bruce! Welcome to Feelings! I don't know why we have such a bad reputation-I think we're a nice place to be.
THere are lots of Texans here. Well-Delbert and I anyway. THe key phrase in Steve's post to you is the best place in TEXAS is Austin-Austin is Mecca for Texans, but then UT is the pinnacle of collegiate education for them. And they have the Houston Rockets and the Dallas Cowboys( well, until they're all kicked off the team for drug use)-who could ask for more? Texans are very happy with themselves and theirs. That said, the summers are HOT...nasty, killingly hot. Your pool water will be bath temp. You run from airconditioned car to AC office to ...you will die a slow death at little league baseball games. They lug bodies out of uncooled apartments daily. However, I survived the now legendary summer of 80 and I was pregnant. (Sorry, a little Rambi strutting there.)
Texans are warm and friendly and inclusive. I like Bubbas.
Given a choice, I'd be in Virginia in a heartbeat.
Were you by any chance in Guam for your high school years?
