Betty:

Mt Rushmore. Let me think out loud here for a minute:

Washington: Courageous general who fought for independence. Owned slaves (very bad PR). Turned down an offer to be King of the newly-independent States. Told the truth when asked about the cherry tree.

Clinton: Pulled political strings to avoid the draft. Never owned slaves (except for Geraldo). Would probably not turn down an offer of sovereignty. Would claim "deciduous immunity" when asked about the cherry tree.

Jefferson: Firm believer in free enterprise and minimal government. Formed the concepts of a bicameral congress and the system of checks and balances among the Judicial, Legislative, and Executive branches of government. Owned slaves.

Clinton: Firm believer in bigger, more intrusive government and the Nanny State. Claims partisan conspiracy when majority overrules bad ideas. Never owned slaves (except for Geraldo).

Roosevelt: Overcame childhood sicknesses to achieve robust appreciation for life. Left the comfort of DC as Asst Secretary of Navy to lead small, unconventional warfare unit to victory in the Spanish-American War. Noted for his quote of "speak softly and carry a big stick." Never owned slaves.

Clinton: Overcame childhood poverty to make a living on the public payroll as career politician. Never led anyone anywhere. Noted for practice of "lie often enough and some fool will believe you." Never owned slaves (except for Geraldo).

Lincoln: Born in a log cabin, worked his way through law school, and became a lawyer in private practice. United the nation through military defeat of secessionist states. Issued blanket order outlawing slavery. Known as "Honest Abe" for his integrity and high moral character. Noted for his famous quote of "A house divided against itself cannot stand." Widely considered to be the most compassionate and inspirational American president. Assassinated while in office.

Clinton: Has absolutely nothing in common with Lincoln. Yet.
