The shares that were sold illegally, if there indeed are any, won't be identifiable, in all likelihood. Not unless the certificates were stamped "restricted", which I believe is a sometimes done.

But in that case they couldn't be substituted for yours. If they're not identifiable at all, then the same holds true.

Makes no sense--in this case or EVER--to "call for your certs".
