When J&J had the kit, they apparently didn't push the sales of it and they priced it too high. Now that Chemtrak is doing their own marketing, the price is more reasonable @ $13.00 and the distribution in Japan and Canada is going well. Yes, the doctors are also using the kits. But no supervision is required by them to test yourself. If you have dangerous levels of Cholestrol, then a doctors supervision is suggested to bring the level down, but again, not to use the test.
