Zeev,
Usually, I find all of your statements to be well reasoned. I suspect that your conciliatory tone has caused your normally high standards to slip drastically. :-)
One of these days, both Lambda and Komatsu will be valid competitors, if they keep investing through the next down cycle in development.
I disagree. It seems both of these companies have been twisting arms to get their products evaluated by the photolithography tool makers. Neither company yet has a laser on a production tool.
Human nature makes people reluctant to continually waste their time when they have better things to do. i.e. - Each time Lambda/Komatsu ship a piece of junk, it will become more difficult to get the next one in the door. It's conceivable that the industry will have moved on to EUV, XRay or whatever before 1 of the 3 majors is willing to give them another chance.
As an example, once Japan was known for supplying junk. Long after they became the world quality leader, they were still falsely tarred with that same brush. I doubt that CYMI will slow down enough to allow either company to become a real threat, but their attempts to take share have probably backfired in terms of their longer term prospects.
