Mike,

The points I asked about were ones I have been told differentiate Fusion from the competition. I believe that the max digital frequency is 500MHz, but either that is unmuxed and you can actually get 1GHz or it is planned for Fusion to get to 1GHz. The point about differential signals was made because I was told that only Fusion can drive true differential signals -- can't say for sure if it is true. Max pin count is supposed to be pretty high (>384) but not sure what the available configurations are. One thing I am pretty sure about is that the test head is reasonably sized, either the size of a Delta/Synchro AC or a little bigger, possibly the size of the now defunct Synchro HPC. Either one is smaller that pretty much anyone else's head for the same pin capacity.

Is the Catalyst Teradyne's digital tester as well as mixed signal? The point of Fusion is not just to provide mixed signal with high speed digital -- it is also the actual Fusion of the Synchro and Delta testers -- LTX no longer will have separate digital and linear/mixed signal testers. This should lead to some cost savings as well.

I think I have made the point here before that most tester decisions are made for reasons other than tester capabilities. It doesn't matter to me who buys the testers or why as long as they buy them and LTX can ship them!

Good luck,

Greg
