*WARNING* Angry rant in response to MZIP follows!!!

I apologise to all regular readers/posters of this discussion. MZIP has managed to get me on a day that I really feel like handing out an ass-kicking!

Hi Again MZIP,

I don't really want to start a flame war, but you seem to leave me little option with the ignorance, stupidity and incorrect spelling, grammar and punctuation of your reply to my comments.

Right, so you've stabilised then, yeah? People need networks. We agree on something. Microsoft's network was not an option for real networks. We agree on something else.

Do you think Microsoft's technology has changed since the LAN Manager (notice the correct spelling in this post) days? You are sadly mistaken, my friend. Their technology has moved very little in the past five years, their marketing to the unwashed masses has improved, that's all. I count you as one of the unwashed. It's not your fault, you've been lied to. All you have to do is open your eyes and look around a bit - you'll be surprised at how much companies like Novell have moved on while others have stuck to the poor relations of networking like Microsoft. NT networking is LAN Manager, warts and all, with a new name and some bundled technologies that they bought in. If you think otherwise, you're wrong. With the new strategies Novell has in place (NDS *on* NT, ManageWise, ZENworks, RADIUS Server etc), Microsoft's success assures Novell's Success. Discussion over, thank you.

Case in point, you say Windows 95, 98 and NT are IP. Yep, IP with a NetBIOS encapsulated packet to make it work. That's right, that Local Area Network (that's where the term LAN comes from, BTW) transport (it's not a protocol, by the strict definition of the word in the network arena) runs Windows 95,98 and NT. Look at the network setup on your own machine. Take a packet analyser to your ethernet segment or whatever topology you have. You will see a Mickey Mouse(tm) transport running your network for you. Pure IP in NetWare 5 is a totally different kettle of fish. It's about open standards, not Microsoft standards, and it doesn't come with NT. Discussion over. Again, I thank you for your efforts so far.

Yep, CEOs come and go. But in the time that Schmidt has been there how has the stock done? Case proven. Discussion over.

CNA, CNE, ENCE, MCNE, MSCE and CNS - they all mean something. Don't belittle what you don't have. If you need a computer based training course (us technical people call it a CBT, but you'll reach that stage soon - CBT comes after BIOS, which you're just about to reach in your dummies guide), my brother sells them to corporates. I'm sure he could do you a deal, just pretend to be someone important to get the discount.

As for what I do, I don't need to explain to a pondweed like you. I will say I'm currently writing Java and JavaScript code for a company that likes the bugs I create as much as they like the code I produce.

Don't even attempt to try and hire me, you couldn't afford the rate.
I've turned Microsoft down four times - I don't want to work with inferior technology. Do you think you could do better? Again, discussion over, and you've lost the last debating point.

Farewell and thanks for the try.

Peter

PS next time you try to post, remember that we're currently debating in English. Read up on grammar and punctuation before you shame yourself in public. It's ok to move your lips while you read the words, but do you really need to run your finger along the screen?
