Arun, thanks for the reply. I probably sounded too negative about surveying. I expect year over year growth for a long time, but no explosive growth. A lot of guys out there have already purchased GPS systems and a lot of them haven't yet. It's still a pretty big investment. Like you said the cost of labor will probably be a big factor in developing countries.
>Basically, whoever owns the cockpit will get the best chance to also sell the GPS receiver to the pilot.<
This is the kind of insight I was hoping for, although it may not be as positive as I had hoped.
>The "smart bomb" project with Lockheed could be big but is subject to delays before high production rates are required.<
Projects like that are what I've really had high hopes for. It seemed like the CUGR deal got blamed for costing us more money than it made, although I doubt if that was really true.
Timing is the one I didn't foresee. Imagine Trimble actually making more money than we expected on something, for once.

By the way the POB magazine (surveying) annual GPS issue is coming out in August, If you are interested in a free subscription, go to pobonline.com and convince them you work in the business.

Thanks for good post,

Bill Day
