From Ken's Link: "An alliance of vendors plans to unveil Tuesday a plan designed to cut down on busy signals caused by users trying to dial onto the Internet.
The Internet Intelligent Network architecture is being spearheaded by Stratus Computer. Other members of the initiative are MCI, Ascend Communications, Bay Networks, Cisco, and 3Com.

The first phase of the initiative is designing a gateway interface that will let remote access server vendors communicate with the telephone company standard that defines how calls are routed through the Public Switched Telephone Network.

The originating switch will be able to route calls intended for ISPs to ports that are connected directly to the ISP's remote access server, thus avoiding the Public Switched Telephone Network's regional switches and inter-machine trunks.
"

Thread,
Sounds a lot like the "splitter" we talked about earlier. What does this initiative do that the splitter won't? I can almost figure it out, but not quite.
Thanks,
