<-- Can what we say here on SI really affect the price of stocks?
-- If so, is this true for just penny stocks, or all stocks?
-- Do companies really pay attention to what is said on their respective SI threads?
-- Has SI leveled the playing field for small investors, or has the net allowed manipulation to
proliferate to a wider audience?
-- What role, if any, should the SEC play as regards sites like SI?>

My two cent answers, without having read this whole thread are:

1. Yes. As shown by the Golden Eagle, MINE thread the day the SEC released news of an old civil suit. Stock was at .185, news released in Rocky Mountain News, posted on their website, posted on SI, but picked up by no one else. Posted here, stock tanks to .07, disseminated, shown for what it was on SI, stock within an hour rebounded to .135. No hype, just a few people speaking the truth, something many newspapers and reporters have a tough time doing, not intentionally maybe, but.......missing the odd little word sometimes makes for a better story. Coincidence, we don't think so.

2. Got me, but I'd say much more likely with the pennies.

3. You bet. I know IR guys that have started threads. Back to the MINE thread, president of the company has stated publicly, in the newspapers, that he released a report prematurely due to "pressure from online investors".

4. Levelled the playing field. Not just SI but the whole speed of information, and widespread availability of info, to anyone. On the threads I am involved in, anyone trying to manipulate will get shut down pretty quick. You better be able to back up anything you say on most threads, or you are toast, with no credibility.

5. Right now I have absolutely no respect for the SEC and the way they supposedly protect the investor. I only have one stock they have become actively involved in, and I am not impressed. IMO they have been responsible for more hype, and more shafting of the small investor, than the company involved, or SI members could possibly hope to achieve if both set their minds to it. I hear they do monitor threads, I've even been warned that they monitor some PM's - true or not I don't really care. State the truth as you know it, state your opinions, without slandering anyone, and we'll all be just fine no matter who reads what.

Sorry to butt in, and won't be able to see any responses, if any, for the next 8 days. Off to the airport, then where there are no phone jacks.

Later,

Jim Bishop
