J.M., thanks for your observations. I used to work in broadcasting, and now recall the Grass VAlley equipment. I never realized TEK made them. It sounds like TEK should get there share of any growth in the digital broadcasting revolution.
I know there Phasor printers are phenominal. My experience is that big companies buy black and white HP network printers, and TEK phasor color printers. They may put what ever color printer on everyones desk, but mainly phasors for the group.
I work at TI, and I see that we are buying TEK hand meters over fluke, and all are labs load up on those cheap TEK DSO's TDS 220. This should continue for some while, as analog scopes are all swaped out for digital. All of our high end DSOs are TEK. I think TEKs position in the communications test equipment arena should also prove very profitable.
Also, I am taking a closer look at Leitch. I like the fact that it seems that they are a digital broadcasting 'pure play', and have a good technology. They trade on the Toronto stock exchange under LTV. They are at a multiyear low.
I wonder when broadcasters are going to start converting their archives to digital. Maybe they are waiting for HDTV to take more of a hold.
Thanks again for the info, I need to learn more about AVID, Ariel- |
