Most of the short interest is hedged so it should not affect market flow. Volume over 40K today is good and as Gaston noted Two Up Gaps. Volume again picked up at the highs. I would think most volume got done over 16.25 so logic would have it we will have a higher opening. I traded some systems that only entered on the close and got out on the opening. Made some great money but time works against you as sooner or later slippage, distraction and commissions will eat you up. I decided to become the broker for these systems.. : )

What I think is important is that %change of Non-NewYork volume is really picking up. I wander if any one know the %'s. How much volume the specialist picked up vs the X'x & M's. N = New York

Over all a good sign (SMU holding the Gap) ... as the Stock Market continues to melt. Credit Green$pan. Way to throw some cold water on the public.
