Renby, back on topic! At last! Actually, I heard from a usually reliable source, that the Brazilian auction was questionably in Qualcomm's interests. Too huge and expensive for Qualcomm, though obviously related to SpinCo, which is still in zygote stage with few employees.

Care is needed too in bidding without full spectrum details and rules or $250,000 in penalties can be payable! Haste made waste. Straight off the bottom line. Qualcomm is a hugely quickly growing risky business with much room for error.

ALSO, Telstra Australia was not so keenly cdmaOne as newspaper articles led us to believe. Highly placed sources in Telstra said it was by no means certain they would be cdmaOne. However, thanks to Qualcomm's interest in the Oz auction, with Dorothy in charge and Madeline in the area, the pressure to instal cdmaOne becomes intense and is near certain to happen. For a relatively low Ozphone [=Qualcomm] spectrum bid.

All very interesting and the interface between GSM/TDMA/cdmaOne remains keenly fought. The trend is clear, but the battlefield is crowded.

Noo Zeeland spectrum auction not for months yet! Delayed until vested interests have made more profit and the government gets its act together. Probably next year.

So my cdmaOne handset is obsolescing unused!! At least I've got Eudora Pro running and it is bullet proof against subject viruses.
