SUNFIRE - NEW DIRECTOR AND CHAIRMAN

CALGARY, July 31 /CNW/ - Sunfire Energy Corporation is pleased to
announce the appointment of Douglas H. Mitchell to its Board of Directors as
Chairman. Mr. Mitchell, Q.C., graduated with a B.A. in Business from Colorado
College and from the University of British Columbia Law School with an LL.B.
Mr. Mitchell is currently the Managing Partner of Howard, Mackie, Barristers
and Solicitors, Calgary. Mr. Mitchell also holds positions on a number of
corporate boards and several community organizations, including Past
President, Calgary Chamber of Commerce; Co-Chair, Alberta Economic Development
Authority; Chairman, Alberta Racing Commission; Chairman, Canada Post Customer
Council for Alberta; and Chairman, Canadian Athletic Foundation. Past
positions held by Mr. Mitchell include Commissioner, Canadian Football League
(1984-1989); Alternate Governor, NHL Board of Governors (1980-1984); Member of
the Board of Governors, Calgary Economic Development Authority; and Director,
Calgary Olympic Development Association. Mr. Mitchell, until recently, held
the position of Chairman, Neutrino Resources Inc. In connection with his
appointment to the Board as Chairman, Mr. Mitchell has been granted an option
to purchase 50,000 Class A common shares at a price of $1.10 per share
pursuant to the Corporation's Stock Option Plan.
