A few notes...
>>>J.M., thanks for your observations. I used to work in broadcasting, >>>and now recall the Grass VAlley equipment. I never realized TEK >>>made them.
Grass Valley Group was founded as an independent company in I believe 1956. In 1972 Tektronix purchased the company, which then became "Grass Valley Group...A Tektronix Company". In 1996 Grass Valley Group was fully absorbed into Tektronix, and now the division is known as Tektronix - Grass Valley Products. >>>I work at TI, and I see that we are buying TEK hand meters over >>>fluke, and all are labs load up on those cheap >>>TEK DSO's TDS 220. I think TEKs position in the >>>communications test equipment arena should also prove very >>>profitable.
TEK's hand meter's offer more for the money than does Fluke. TEK is the industry standard in DSO's. HP's new mouse driven Windows based scopes are doing well, though.
TEK has a BRIGHT future in communications test. The CMD80, jointly developed with Rhode & Schwarz, is the leading CDMA Digital Wireless Test Set. Obviously this market is in its infancy. Buy stocks in CDMA technology while they are cheap!!!!
>>>Also, I am taking a closer look at Leitch.
Leitch is a great company that will be around for a long time. If you are interested in this market you MUST attend the NAB conference in Vegas every year around April. Leitch has a huge booth, and they are in touch with the television studio signal distribution market, helping to keep TEK honest!
>Thanks again for the info, I need to learn more about AVID,
AVID is a no-brainer. They are undisputed leaders in Windows and Macintosh audio and video editing solutions. Look at the credits for TV shows...I always see someone titled as "AVID EDITOR".
