The reason coke has has gone from over priced at 55 to crazy at 88, in one man's opinion.... Keep in mind it is not based on fundamentals as the estimate for 1999 (Now $1.85) is less than what the estimate was for 1998 12 months ago. It is also highly likely than estimates will still be adjusted downward in the next 6 months. The last few years have been the best in history of indexers over stock pickers. As more money goes to index funds, that money is spent immediately. There is also the additional effect of quasi indexers who will buy the top 10 to 50 stocks in the S&P 500 in an effort to enhance performance. In addition, with the return of stocks 100 to 500 in the S&P actually showing a negative return this year ( this before the recent selloff) more and more will only buy the stocks at the very top of the list. It is all based on liquidity, and remember that cuts both ways.
