As for Chinese devaluating the RMB in the footsteps of the yen, I think there are pros and cons. If China can survive the crisis without devaluating, they no doubt would have escalated their position in the pecking order not only in Asia but the world. Zhu is sending out special task force to pay special attention in trying to meet the 8% GDP growth objective.

Not even mentioned in the western press is the Yantze floods, which has already killed 2500 people and who knows how many homeless. I don't blame CNN because they are indeed busy trying to determine the source of a stain on Monica's dress. Based on her size, I bet you it will turn out to be spagetti sauce. Whats more important anyway?

This flood is threatening China's planned 8% GDP growth. Time will tell if China needs to devaluate.
