Actually my preferred "happy scenario" was first thought of by Dan as well. He just doesn't like it as much. :-)

It was amazing to me that anyone would put in the work that he did on this and I doubt we will hear from him until Monday. I would like to here more as to his reasons for thinking that RCOM is the target. It is tempting to think of RCOM as holding the key to secure e-commerce.

But if H-P owned all of it, would it be more difficult to get companies like IBM or Compaq to license it? It would sound like RMBS being set up as two companies with a cross license agreement. One holding the bus design and the other the DRDRAM design. Does H-P/Verifone have the clout and the killer instinct to secure RCOM's interest in a major portion of the e-commerce market? Would they want/get a free license to include RCOM's RF/ID in some/all of their various boxes? If so would the cost of their equity stake have to be higher? Would there be any interest at Sun, Oracle or ? to get in on this action?

Dan has presented lots of food for speculation and many interesting questions. Any way you slice it this is a major gamble. But the payoff could be larger than anything I have experienced. For now I am leaving my unfilled order on RMTR. But I'm going to give Dan a good listen when he gets back on line. It wouldn't take much buying interest to send RCOM flying with such a small float. And they don't have any Trustee'd overhang so it could get interesting in a hurry.
