As a new MBT trader I have noticed both results. Usually if I make an ARCA bid at the ask, I get a fill instantly, but occasionally I have noticed what you mention, that my bid appears on the bid with a P while the ask is still showing at the same price. I am still trying to figure out why I get displayed this way when shares are being offered at my bid price. Maybe because the offer is getting taken out simultaneously? But you say that bidding this way prevents the uptick. Maybe you are right. But why am I not getting filled if I am bidding the ask and shares are still being offered?

Thanks for any insights.

Rick
