Greetings Dll, Circumcision and Passover under the Old Covenant, were " outward " ordinances given by God to His people Israel. They were in effect foreshadows of what the Lord Jesus Christ would accomplish at Calvary. Circumcision of the flesh (" outward " )would now become Circumcision of the heart ( " inward "), and Passover ( blood on the doorposts and lintels ) " outward ", would now be the precious blood of the Lord Jesus Christ, our Everlasting Passover. ( "inward " ). Old Testament Circumcision and Passover as practiced back then have been done away with as the Old Covenant has been replaced by the New Covenant. They have been transcended by a new Circumcision and Passover, the Lord Jesus Christ. This is what is meant when they are said to be " forever ", they have abolished their " outward " practices and found their fullfillment completely in the Lord Jesus Christ. They have ended their style as performed under the Old Covenant. Christians now celebrate the " ultimate Passover " the Lord Jesus Christ, in the breaking of bread, as instructed by the Apostle Paul, to the Church. DLL, I am not familiar with the " Passover Sader", therefore no comment. Please keep always in your mind, as we seek understanding of the Old Testament, that the coming of Lord Jesus Christ is the main and central theme woven carefully throughout the many Books. What do you mean DLL, by this statement, << Passover as well is continuing and has evolved but was never done away with. I have sat in and enjoyed Passover as a believer >>. Grace and peace to you, DLL. Robert |
