How much is a lot of work?
or
This is still a suggestion box

Many of us follow posters as much as we follow topics. So even if it is a lot of work, I believe that SI should explore adding this feature. Now if it is an incredible amount of work, I would make a further suggestion: put all of this work to work in a generic and broad ranging fashion. Make additional navigation aids available to every list of links that can come about from the use of search functions. Let every user effortlessly walk through every list of posts or profiles that he or she can put together. (In fact, if there was a internet-wide search engine that worked this way, I would be loyal to it immediately. If the engine not only produced a table of links but abstracted the complete first page of every found item and appended a set of navigational link to other pages found...)

Of course if it is a herculean and almost indescribable amount of work, even I might say: "Oh well, then don't bother." But I tell you: if SI, in its largesse, were to give us these features along with a thread-specific searching ability, I would seriously consider retiring from even trying to think of new enhancements. (In fact, having decided that the pool of good ideas had been exhausted, I would start looking for a lot of work as a paid basher of new suggestions...but I digress and this post has now gone seriously off-topic)

Regards,
Michael
