William, how is a financial guy going to turn the company around unless he knows the industry, markets, and technology? Yes, I know the answer is...hire the knowledge. However, I not so sure that this is the same thing as personally knowing the key elements that make the company function on a day-to-day basis.
Who knows, maybe its in the best interest of Seagate's shareholders to sell the company. Look at DEC and CPQ, wherein, CPQ purchased DEC. This wasn't the best deal in the world for the shareholders, but it sure was better than having DEC continuing on its present course of action. I should know, I was a DEC shareholder.
