Ramsey,

There have been published statements of doubt about the veracity of flood accounts in the past. The suspicion was that China overstated flood damage in order to regain world opinion in favor of the Three Gorges dam project. I have no opinion on this but wonder if you or anyone else, does for that matter.

I have a friend who has just arrived in Shanghai and hope to hear some comments from him soon. From all appearances this flood is one of the worse in a long history of flooding.
