Topdollar...this might help

This is copied (without permission...always better to seek forgiveness, you know) from Flightlessbird's post on Yahoo tonight..

"There should be absolutely NO concern over any MM or shorter's failure to meet covering capital. The chain of insurance would trace all the way back to much, much, much larger clearing firms that handle all the MM transactions as well as your purchases. They can and often do suck up 100s of millions each year when such bankruptcy situations arise. Moreover, I am sure that 100% of the brokers used have more than adequate securities protection for all your individual accounts through SIPC (Securities Investor Protection Corporation) or similar insurance arrangements. If they didn't have such protection, they would never attract the larger accounts through which they make substantial money. My Ameritrade account is protected up to $10.5 million in securities protection. Now assuming TGSK hits $200, I might find myself unprotected. LOL Anyway, this is an issue really not worth worrying over even for a second."
