Jim,

You are absolutely right that, somewhere along the line, there will be profit-taking. The feeling I got from my brokers (Prodential, Shearson and H&Q) was that INTC would at least hold till the last week of December as the result of institutional window dressing. Come Janaury 1997, the loose, hot $$$$ would probably leave, only to return at a later date. Also, I was told, a lot of folks are deferring profit-taking until next year in anticipation of lower capital gains taxes. I don't know why the latter point is necessary because one can always

"short against the box".

PS: Another speculation is that some of the IBM $$$ was coming into INTC today. The big money has got to find a big place to park. Perhaps this was designed by T. Kurlak after Merrill's inventory (INTC) had been replensihed?
