Like Kleiner's other big e-commerce investments, Drugstore.com appears to be an effort to change the business of buying and selling over the Internet. And while prescription drug sales may be offered -- there are potential legal obstacles to selling prescriptions online -- Drugstore.com isn't just an Internet pharmacy. All kinds of things are sold in drugstores: magazines, shampoo, cosmetics, vitamins.
Mark,
Thank you for posting this but I had already read it. Not the issue, however.
Let's see I willl order a $1 bottle of shampoo and pay $3 to have it shipped. Ah throw in some vitamins and aspirin too. I cannot seem to find magazines either. They are only in every convenience store on every corner. So is the shampoo. By the way, my wife goes to the grocery store on a regular bases. I suppose we like to eat on an occasion. I found that the grocery store has vitamins, shampoo, magazines, all kinds of cleaning supplies and everything else that a drug store has. They even will fill prescription medications while one is shopping. I know we could order grocerys on the net. The problem is shipping again. What are we do to for those presriptions medicines then? I know the elder will never need those.
I do not see grocery stores going away soon. Actually I see a move that is continuing to one stop shopping with the likes of Walmart and Kmart superstores. One may get their groceries, prescriptions, fans, airconditioners, lawnmowers, tampax, aspirin, vitamins, aut batteries, smaller batteries, guns, ammunition, all kinds of sporting supplies, book, videos, music, clothing, towels, blankes, sheets, computers, printers, telephones, fax machines, game machines, TVs, home entertainment centers, soda pop, beer, liquor, deserts, candy, paper towels, toilet tissue, etc. and only park once. Tell me you do not see a trend towards one stop shopping.
