I was under the impression that the number of employees in N.I. was close to 80. Regarding Lithium, as far as I can remember from Chemistry (long time ago.) it is one of the less common alkali metals. Discovered in 1817 by Arfvedson. The name comes from its occurrence in rocks, the word "lithium" meaning stony. Renal lithiasis(kidney stones), cholelithiasis (G.B.stones),etc. It was first isolated by electrolysis of the chloride salt in 1885 by Bunsen. Important deposits are found in the Black Hills of South Dakota and at Searles Lake in California. Lithium hydroxide is a component of the Edison battery. The Atomic Energy Commission was using a large portion of the lithium metal in connection with the production of energy by fusion(the hydrogen bomb) reaction.
