One has to wonder who is taking these public polls.

Good question. For a contrast, take a look at the CBS polls at cbs.com . A couple of things strike me about the differences between these polls:

1. MSNBC polling was interactive. Vote and see the results, which were basically anti-Clinton. It occurs to me that most of those taking part in the poll have at least access to a computer and an Internet account and are probably better off financially (winners of life's lottery, to borrow a Democratic phrase). Since most of the Democrats' power base is formed from the poorer side of society (the Hollywood elite being a notable exception), the vote would have had a decidedly conservative bias. This may be a contributing factor to my observation that there are fewer than ten Clinton defenders on this thread. Adding to this is the overall intent of Silicon Investor; as a forum for financial discussion, it would tend to attract more affluent members.

2. CBS' polls were not interactive; the numbers were presented with authority but without statistical information as to how many were polled or the method of contact. The wording of the questions seemed to play a part in the polling, too, as it almost always does.

Anyone who's taken Statistics 101 has learned how to influence the outcome of a poll to "prove" the desired opinion as valid. I, for one, don't believe any poll unless it shows an overwhelming (=> 80%)percentage one way or the other.
