iMac, uMac, we all Mac ...

FYI, the iMac is not the only floppy-less Mac Apple sells. Certain configurations of the Wall Street Powerbook are available without floppy. I've had some customers choose that config to save a few bucks.
Makes good sense if you have more than one computer. Better to spend the same money on an Imation or Zip device.
BTW, there's nothing my 9600 wont do that I need done, but I'm still strongly tempted to get an iMac.
[My exisiting peripherals - printers, keyboard, trackball, etc would have to be adapted/replaced. Though my 17" monitor actually feels to big for my work area.]
I agree, that as a salesman, I still feel awkward about how to sell the unit without a demo and stock of peripherals. However, it seems that our initial allocation of 15 units has already been reserved.
In sum, I think early adopters and institutions will provide strong initial support until the peripheral situation gets up to speed. From my vantage point, I have no reason to think iMac sales aren't going to be very strong -- short, medium and long-term. |
