Here we go again...

You want Clinton to pay $40 million? I think Starrr should pay
back the $40 million he has squandered - to date all this has amounted
to is a question of stains on a dress. What a pathetic waste of money.

Fact: The $40 million bill would have been considerably less if it weren't for the stonewalling and delaying tactics of the White House and their lawyers. Starr was hired by Janet Reno to conduct the investigation, and every penny on his expense report is authorized by her.

Fact: Included in the $40 million tag are the convictions of at least 30 of the folks on this shameful list: etherzone.com

Fact: If Watergate is to be used as a comparison, let's not forget that the possession of a single FBI file was enough to get Charles Colson sent to the federal pen for seven months. Compare that to the 900 or so FBI files that Craig Livingstone got for the White House.

Fact: Yes, Republicans are ashamed of Watergate and of Nixon's behavior in it. They acknowledge his wrongdoing. They don't like it any more than you do, believe me. But NO Republican ever had reporters (excuse me - "celebrities") like Geraldo claiming that it was "all about burglary."
