An acquisition of Stratus by Ascend will disappoint some traders in Ascend, who pushed Ascend's shares higher amid speculation it was a takeover candidate. Sweden-based Ericsson AB, the world's No. 3 cellular telephone maker, said in June it was in talks with Ascend, the No. 5 computer networking company. Ascend shares fell 11.6 percent in Germany today, declining 10.5 marks to 79.5.
