The article covers a wide range of Y2K topics, the main point was,
like-wow, Freddie-Mac has 10% of it's staff slaving away on Y2K, they're
pressing hard. Good news, perhaps not great news ... but good
news... then it closes with...

.. exactly what do they mean by "military-style drills and
simulations"?

Do they mean, briefings with pointers and powerpoint slides... nooooo,
that's normal for business.

Do they mean, a time table, schedules, and a cost benefit study...
nooooo, that's normal for business.

Do they mean, pre-selection of alternative suppliers and a full supply
room... noooo.

Do they mean, the CEO and CIO issue stirring memos and urge
the troops to do their best... nooooo...

Hopefully this is just a poor choice of words and the Post doesn't
really mean "military-style" drills. When I saw that phrase, the room
cleared, I caught the whiff of diesel fuel, a large shape clanked by,
Shmuel leaned from the cab and called out... today, we go south. The
commando micro-UZI hanging by a tan nylon strap. south, this is just a
drill.... to the right, a line of tracked personnel carriers, their six
pointed stars standing out against the desert beige, started into the
desert, the wind picked up.... just a drill. today, no one dies.

the call, never agai
