Redefining ultraportability, the Computer Systems Division (CSD) of Toshiba America Information Systems Inc. (TAIS), the
leading manufacturer of portable computers, Monday announced its new Portege 7000CT.

Performance and style combine to give customers an ultraportable solution that meets performance requirements on the road
and manageability requirements in the office. The product line that started the ultraportable revolution is reinforced with Intel's
powerful 266MHz Mobile Pentium II processor, built-in MPEG-II decoding capabilities and an elegant design based on a
sturdy magnesium case for a powerful business computing solution.

"Innovation with purpose is core to our product strategy at Toshiba. The combination of our worldwide technology leadership
with our understanding of customer needs allows us to develop products that fit our customers' varying work styles," said
Jeffrey Friederichs, vice president of marketing, Toshiba's Computer Systems Division. "At four pounds, one-inch thin and
with Pentium II performance, the Portege 7000CT delivers the size and performance mobile professionals require to maximize
productivity on the go."

New Portege Makes Stylish Yet Powerful Statement

At just one-inch thin, the four-pound Portege 7000CT takes on a new slim shape. Its stylish dark gray chassis is accented with
a silver metallic lid and magnesium casing. Packing more power per ounce than other ultraportables, the Portege 7000CT
comes standard with Intel's most powerful mobile processor, a 266MHz Pentium II processor. The new design will also
support Intel's 300MHz Pentium II processor when available. Coupled with 512KB L2 cache, 32MB of high-speed
Synchronous DRAM (expandable to 160MB) and a 4.3 billion byte hard disk drive, customers can easily run
graphics-intensive multimedia presentations or large databases and spreadsheets. It incorporates a full-size keyboard for
effortless typing on an airplane or at a desk. A Lithium Ion battery provides more than 2.75 hours of battery life and more than
six hours is possible with the optional high-capacity battery.

Powerful communications are always within reach with the Portege's standard internal K56flex(TM) voice/data/fax modem,
which is flash upgradeable to the V.90 standard. Unlike other ultra-thin portables, the Portege accommodates two Type II or
one Type III PC Cards and a USB port for easy connection to peripherals, networks and printers. For speedy data transfers
to a desktop computer, fast IrDA infrared support is available using Puma's IntelliSync(TM) 97 software.

Delivers Cutting-Edge Multimedia Presentations and Expansion Capability

Multimedia presentations are delivered in style with the Portege 7000CT. Its bright 12.1-inch active matrix TFT display,
built-in MPEG-II decoding capability NeoMagic(R) 128-bit graphics accelerator with 2MB of integrated SGRAM video
memory provide fast DVD playback for multimedia presentations containing DVD files.
