***** VERY MUCH ON TOPIC ************
A subsidiary company (As opposed to a wholly owned subsidiary) is a company which the larger parent company owns a stake in. Generally, but not always, the parent also has control over the actions of the subsidiary.
I had not heard of this little company until earlier today when I talked with John. As I understand it, we own half of the company. Presently they are preparing a database from which statistical data may be gleaned. Data such as this is valuable and very saleable. They bring to the table the database and the ability to obtain and massage the data for sale to insurance companies. HMOs, etc. Panam brings to the table the corporate structure, the backing and the wherewithall to market the data.
Also, my conversation with John was very rewarding. I now understand a whole lot more on what is really happening in Belize. It actually reminds me of a small town in which I used to live. In that town, everyone knew everyone else, their likes, dislikes, even who was sleeping with whom. Rumors abound and feelings are hard to soothe. Think of the Hatfields and the McCoys. Now put that on a level that is much more grand.
Now I am not going to say that it does no good to email John, because he does read the emails and is very intune with the feelings of the investors. John has a lot on his plate, so a personal response to each and every email is just not in the works. So, you get a general response that all is well and asking for your continued patience. But, I will say that by being cornered with direct and unyielding questions, he was more than able to give me the proof I required. I now have no doubt at all that the houses are going up and that the housing project will be completed on time and within the bugetary parameters we previously were led to believe. I also believe that this will be a political hot potato at least until after the elections. I reserve the right to be mistaken, but I also point out that I am not an insider and have no reason to report that which is not true. I really believe as a result of my own investigation that all I have discussed here is indeed true.
Lets look at the country of Belize and also at the "Ugly American" syndrome ... In days gone past, someone with a greenback could come in and cause inflation in a matter of minutes. Then that person would leave with the profit and all that was left was the local person with a lot of debt and little to show for it. Lets call a pig a pig here ... these folks got smoked! So, here comes Panam and promises houses. Well, the first hurdle is to prove that it is real. We all know from numerous posts that Belize has been trying to develop housing projects for some time. The problem has been getting the resources to build the homes.
Suppose just for consideration that the Govt said that 10 M per month is yours, and then the company left with the cash and had only poured a bunch of slabs but no houses? Where would the party in power be? I will tell you, they would be looking for handouts because the outrage of the people would not allow them to survive ... at least not in office. Now if you were the Govt there what would you do? Probably say "Build the houses and we will come, but YOU must build first and then we will stick out our sore necks, not until!" Well, as the update on the web site says, the houses are being built. By the end of the month and the way I hear it maybe sooner, there will be houses. Just in time for the elections, just in time for the Celebrations, just in time for their Independance day ... JUST IN TIME to show the sincerity of the company and their honest committment to the project!
I have heard a lot of things quoted on here, but one thing I have not heard quoted is any news article OTHER than the anti ugly American article. Well if you look closely, you will see an article that talks about the present ruler almost guarranteeing that he will stay in power by eliminating the income tax for folks under $10K per year. Think about that. That is half the population of this country. Then consider that a large number of the applications are from government employees. Put 2 and 2 together yet? If the govt were to acknowledge that they were backing houses for a favored few, what would that do for the political climate of reelection?
What does all of this mean for us, the shareholders? Well, it means that there are some strange forces at work to be sure. Here we have a company who is doing all that they have said they are doing. It is growing. For some reason, the stock price is declining. IMHO, it is panic selling and little more. The MMs may be playing a role in the decline in share value, but the majority is just that folks have not considered what is happening nor what the effect and possible solutions. I did bust John's chops for what I referred to as his clandestine news releases which send folks in a hurry scurrying around to find proof that what was said is really true. I don't know if that will change greatly, but I can say that by adding the names of the officers and directors on the web site, he is doing much better. The rule of thumb in the corporate world is "Disclose, Disclose, Disclose ... and then Disclose some more!" Now we know what response we are getting to the IT site. We also know how many pies we have our fingers in, and we also know the direction we are heading.
There is a lot more that I could add, but let me just sum it up from a Lawyer's perspective: Physical evidence is much better than accusations or hearsay. I have seen, read, and digested the physical evidence here and I would not have any problem taking this case to trial. We have a winner. But don't take my word for it ... SELL SELL SELL! I want more than before to be able to load up on shares before the rest of the investing public beats me to the cheap shares.
