This implies that whatever width the diatreme has at surface will quickly dissipate... A dyke by contrast is fine grained and non-explosive,.. it is moderately quick cooling.. a kimberlite dyke would look remarkable like a basalt.. records of diamond production from actual dykes is non existent as far as I know. raison d'etre are not fruit that you eat.
