" In brief the future technological growth of Lasers is quite finite."

That just about knocked me off my Chair! Here I was thinking all Along that
the future technological Growth of Lasers was going to be INFINITE!
I wonder if the analysts have captured this in their valuation models? No
wonder the darn stock is going down...

Next you're going to tell me that the future growth of Internet Search Engines is
going to be finite too....SELL EVERYTHING!!

I know, semantics shemantics. I'm just teasing. You're trying to say that laser
innovation is going to hit the wall. Hasn't that been the general consensus
since about 1960?

Maybe you're right. Maybe lasers are not a good business to be in. I tend to
agree more with JDN though. Good companies ride out short term economic
shakeouts and emerge stronger with fewer competitors. So I'm more interested
in Coherent's ability to execute as a going concern than the resale value of
their patents.

I just find it hard to imagine that there won't be a lot more lasers in use 10 years
from now. Who is the premier and most diversified laser manufacturer in the
world? That's Coherent, and until very recently this company has been steadily
improving it's finances. I agree with JDN: now is not the time for a fire sale.
Exciting new applications for lasers are emerging all the time, in many different
fields.

All very much IMHO,

Andrew
