Emile: George mentioned NUKO over on the VTEL board. I'm delighted that he started this discussion of videoconferencing but I hope that we can clarify our terms. NUKO seems to me to be in the video distribution business - MPEG is a broadcast standard. Videoconferencing is real time, send and receive. One of the pieces of the H.3x standards is call setup and session management. You don't do this in broadcast. I see them as separate markets.

In addition, the comments about WAVO earlier seem to be referring to an Intel technology called Intercast that once again broadcasts data over the vertical blanking interval of the TV signal. CNN and MSNBC are both experimenting with this. You tune in to their television broadcasts and can receive data in a window on your PC at the same time.

How about it George, do we want to simplify the companies discussed here or leave things chaotic and organic in the grand tradition of the Web? :)
