====================================================================== SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 3, 1998--VLSI Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ:VLSI) today announced that Richard M. Beyer, president and chief operating officer, has left the company for personal reasons. "VLSI appreciates the contributions Rich made to the company, and we wish him well," said Alfred J. Stein, chairman and CEO. "As always, we are concentrating our efforts on executing our business strategy and satisfying our customers' needs. I believe we are strongly positioned in the communications, consumer digital entertainment and computing businesses. VLSI has no immediate plans to name a replacement, and Stein has re-assumed the duties held by Beyer. The executives who reported to Beyer now report to Stein.
