now that i'm a seasoned 4 day user...
...i want to share a bit of my experience.
I LOVE IT! the product is wonderful. this morning, i e-mailed my colleagues my Portico number as a replacement for the 5 (yes 5) phone numbers that they previously had for me (NYC office number, NYC apartment number, Denver apartment number, mobile phone number, beeper number).
after checking it out firsthand as a caller and then getting a demo of my account in action as a subscriber, 2 guys in my office had their faxes into CWG for activation by the end of the day.
besides the to-be-expected "that is SOOO COOL! I love the speech recogntion!", the one guy told me, and I quote, "I've been waiting for something exactly like this! This is the first useful application I've seen for the internet."
i think that's the key here. a year from now, Portico will be heralded as the first true killer-app for the internet. yes, i do think you can classify portico as an internet app...the IP telephony support, the fetching of internet mail, the syncronization with desktop PIM apps and PIM handhelds over the internet.
if my first day of "show and tell" at the office today is any indication of how the word-of-mouth effect will treat us, i'd say we're going be rich. (unless you're still short at $6.5 like Tim Smith - asshole!) |
